Location in box

The iPad is located in the black neoprene bag at the edge of the Kit. It should be stored in the bag and returned there when you're done with it. It is stored between uses turned off to save battery power. To turn it on, press and hold the power button on the right side until the Apple logo appears.

On the iPad

This iPad is intended to be used with the Swivl or for a presentation. You cannot record with the Swivl and present from the iPad at the same time. Most likely, you will present from a separate computer and us the iPad with the Swivl to record your session.

The Swivl app is installed and Keynote, PowerPoint, and Google Slides are also on the home page of the iPad. Apps on the iPad are routinely kept up to date.

Signing in and out

ODE Wireless

ODE Wireless is connected on each of the iPads. You should not need to sign in to use it. If it prompts you for a password, please contact Melissa Garner.

Swivl

As will be covered in the Swivl training, you MUST sign in and out of the Swivl app each time you use it. Be sure to upload your videos to the cloud before you turn the Presentation Kit back in.

Google Slides

You will need to sign in to Google if you use Google Slides for your presentation. Please be sure to sign out again before you turn the Presentation Kit back in.

Apple ID

To access things like Keynote or your photo stream, you will need to login to the iPad with your personal Apple ID if you have one. You do this in the System app located in the "Apple Tools" folder.

When you login with your Apple ID, you will be able to download apps you have used on other Apple devices you use. DO NOT DO THIS! Apps from private Apple ID's will be deleted on check in and any locally saved data will be erased.

If you have an app that you would like to use on a consistent basis, please email Melissa Garner and she will work with our IT staff to get that added to the approved list of apps for all iPads as appropriate. This will allow you to not login in to get an app you need.

Keynote

If you want to use Keynote, you will need to login to the iPad with your Apple ID.

Wireless in other locations

Please feel free to add additional wireless connections in the System app located in the "Apple Tools" folder. These will be periodically deleted by the Equipment Team to keep the iPads running smoothly.

Any other app or service

If a login is necessary to use any other app or service on the iPad, you are welcome to do so. Just be sure to clean off your data and logout before checking in the Presentation Kit.

Charging

The iPad should be fully charged when you take delivery of the Presentation Kit. Exceptions will be noted for you. A fully charged iPad should last at least one day.

The charging brick for the iPad is in the bag with the microphones.

The charging cable is in a pink envelope in the Chargers and Connectors box.

If you keep the Presentation Kit overnight, it's a good idea to plug in all the devices so they are fully charged for the next day. If you plan to turn in the Kit at the end of the day or early the next morning, you are not required to charge them, but it would be helpful to your equipment team.
