WBL Agreements

All engaged parties must establish, communicate, and agree to a set of clear expectations for each Work-Based Learning experience. One way to accomplish this common understanding is through a Work-Based Learning agreement that . . .

    • summarizes the details of the learning experience
    • outlines the expectations for the school, student, parent/guardian/caregiver, and business and industry partner
    • includes a signed statement of nondiscrimination from the school and business and industry partner

The WBL agreement might be part of a larger handbook and may involve additional parties, depending on how Work-Based Learning is implemented in your school, district, or region.

Please download a copy of the Work-Based Learning Agreement template and modify it to meet your needs and reflect your local structure. We hope this resource is a helpful starting point for schools that do not have existing WBL agreements.
Review all WBL agreements through your district equity lens or the Oregon Equity Lens Links to an external site. and through the Work-Based Learning Agreement – Document Review Checklist. The purpose of this checklist is to provide a tool for schools to review their WBL agreements and reflect on equity-minded changes that might prevent disproportionate impacts to specific focal student groups.
Check out the responses to the Document Review Checklist prompts from a team of people that conducted a collaborative review of the draft ODE WBL Agreement. You will also find a link to be able to review the updates made to the draft WBL Agreement in response to each prompt.
