Instructions

At this stage of the Transformative SEL implementation process, school leaders are guided through collective sense-making and identifying integration opportunities. In collective sense-making, school leaders are invited to facilitate conversations with their staff about their experience with other frameworks or initiatives. In this section, you will have the opportunity to engage with a school narrative in which these discussions reveal staff resistance due to burnout, lack of trust and fear. Then you’ll reflect on your own context and prepare for potential staff resistance to Transformative SEL.

Step 1: Listen

Engage with the following school narrative about staff learning about a new schoolwide initiative. Take note of what feels familiar in your own context.
