Welcome to the Oregon Department of Education's (ODE) course on making content accessible. In October 2018, Director Colt Gill announced a new policy Links to an external site. regarding ODE's commitment to accessibility.

This policy states, "ODE affirms its commitment to ensure people with disabilities have an opportunity equal to their peers without disabilities to participate in ODE's programs, benefits and services, including those delivered through electronic and information technology, except where doing so would impose an undue burden or create a fundamental alteration."

The content of this course assists employees of ODE to produce content that is inherently accessible and passes accessibility checks the first time every time..

This Module on Word covers how to make documents accessible using Microsoft Word. 

This Module on PowerPoint covers how to make presentations accessible using Microsoft PowerPoint. 

This module on Excel covers many of the topics related to making Excel worksheets accessible. It is a work in progress and will be updated regularly.
